Dr. Reed received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He completed residency programs in internal medicine and anesthesiology, and ultimately achieved board certification in three specialties – internal medicine, anesthesiology and pain management.
Since 1988, Dr. Reed has served on the medical staff of Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, where he also previously served as the head of the Pain Management Program. Dr. Reed first began applying neurostimulation for intractable migraines in 1992 and in 2006 pioneered the Reed ProcedureSM for migraines, and other innovative neurostimulation techniques for treating various types of severe, intractable headaches – techniques which are now used around the world.
Dr. Reed founded Reed Migraine Centers in 2011 and continues ongoing research, and publishes and presents papers on pain management topics and the use of implantable neurostimulation devices for the control of pain. Additionally, he is a recognized teaching specialist who trains other physicians in specialized techniques of implantable neurostimulation and is a founding member of the Texas Pain Society.
