Dr. Dumitrescu is a native of Romania, where he completed high school and his first year of medical school in his native city of Bucharest. Dr. Dumitrescu completed his medical doctorate at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and postgraduate work in internal medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor. Dr. Dumitrescu completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, and a fellowship in interventional spine pain management under the mentorship of world-renowned interventional radiologist Charles Aprill, M.D.
While in New Orleans, Dr. Dumitrescu served as associate professor in pain medicine at Tulane School of Medicine and trained pain medicine fellows at the Veterans Administration hospital. In the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, Dr. Dumitrescu moved to Austin, Texas, where he established his own practice, Precision Pain Consultants.
Dr. Dumitrescu is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and in pain medicine. His special interests are discography and interventional intra-discal therapies for discogenic pain, proliferative and regenerative medicine, and neurostimulation. His practice focuses on the precise diagnosis and treatment of spinal conditions, sports injuries and headaches, and he works closely with spinal surgeons and specialists. He is a member of numerous professional societies at the state and national level.
